Statement on Joint Backing of Election Roadmap in Libya

"The decision by the House of Representatives to join the High Council of State in endorsing the roadmap for elections is a welcome move towards national unity in Libya. By securing the joint backing of Libya’s regional authorities, the roadmap is the first step towards delivering a new government that can unite the country, in line with demands from the population and the international community. We must maintain this momentum and ensure that transparent systems and protocols are in place to be ready for free and fair elections.”

إن قرار مجلس النواب بالانضمام إلى المجلس الأعلى للدولة في إقرار خارطة الطريق للانتخابات هو خطوة مرحب بها نحو الوحدة الوطنية في ليبيا. ومن خلال تأمين الدعم المشترك من السلطات الليبية، فإن خارطة الطريق هي الخطوة الأولى نحو تشكيل حكومة جديدة يمكنها توحيد البلاد، بما يتماشى مع مطالب الشعب الليبي وحث المجتمع الدولي على ذلك، لذلك يجب أن نحافظ على هذا الزخم وأن نضمن وجود شفافية مصداقية لإجراء انتخابات حرة ونزيهة".
